New job = no more sitting around drinking tea and drawing

Woah, what a week! I have just got a new job so it's been very stressful, it's taking some getting used to, this idea of finally going back to work after 6 months! Although it'll be exciting, I'm very aware that to begin with I won't be able to concentrate on any kind of crafty bits so that's kinda rubbish, but it will also be nice to get out and about and meet new people and get some money in the bank!

I'm afraid I haven't got anything new for you this time, but I'm still thinking all about lots of things and working on the Alice pictures...

Rockabaret and Alice inspired children!

Well, Saturday night was incredible! Some friends and I went to an Alice in Wonderland themed club night called Rockabaret and had one of the best nights ever! We were all nicely dressed up (pics soon) and there was so much going on, there was flamingo and hedgehog croquet out in the back, a big caterpillar sat on a mushroom in the first room, the Ace of Hearts on stilts, The Queen of Hearts, lots of cupcakes and cocktails and splendid music - they even played some Eurovision songs! You cannot imagine how excited I was when Verka Seduchka came on!! The whole night was amazing!

I've now been inspired to draw some Alice themed children, so we'll see what I come up with. I'll put them in the shop soon, along with the rest of my Christmas cards :)

NEW Animal Tags!

I have been making Christmas gift tags all day today! I have a few sets of 8 tags each in different animals now, and girls and boys of each: squirrels (girl shown), foxes, cats, bunnies, bears, pandas and giraffes. I'm hoping to make some more animals, maybe tigers and lions too :)

The tags will come in sets of 8 of each animal, with the chance to have different animal selections if desired. The actual tags when complete will have holes in their tops and ribbons. Lovely!

I Bet Foxes Love Crispy Cakes!

Wahoo, another sale! I get super excited when I sell something! And it's one of my favourites, an ACEO of my fox blowing bubbles ----->

My darling friend Tim came over today; I made him crispy cakes with Maltesers in them and he seemed very impressed with my little site, so I am feeling pretty proud today :) not in an arrogant way, but I like the idea of people liking my work, so it's made me very happy, woop!

EyeToy Groove and pretty Christmas squirrels

The weather's been dreary but I've had EyeToy and squirrels to keep me occupied :) we've unlocked a couple of new songs on EyeToy Groove, so I'm a little obsessed at the moment, but a nice bit of healthy obsession is good, yes? When not dancing I've been drawing squirrels to make into gift tags for the shop and have been commissioned to make a birthday card with a panda illustration, so that's all very exciting! I'm thinking of making the tags of lots of different animals and having packs with one animal only, in lots of Christmassy poses and some packs with a mixture of animals. Good plan, I think. I'll buy some pretty ribbon and get pictures up soon :)

Animal Children Angels

I've been making pretty Christmas angels for the last couple of days, out of paper and plastic laminate. I'm planning on doing some more animals as well as this little giraffe girl and maybe some with harps or candles.

I am hoping to make some more decorations, but maybe not animal children related, perhaps some paper ornaments. The floor of my flat is covered in pretty paper and I'm brimming with ideas!

Christmas is a-coming!

Wow, I've been so busy making more cute stuff that I have been rubbish at updating, sorry! I've been getting into the good ol' Christmas spirit, which seems a bit mad early but I LOVE Christmas so I don't mind! I've made a few cards, gift tags and decorations, which I will put up here soon!

I have also become a member of We Love Etsy which I can just tell will only add to my addiction!

NEW laminated badges!

I've been making some cute laminated badges, they're hand drawn on fairly thin paper, coloured, then laminated. I've had a lot of fun making these so far, here are some of the ones I have done:

I am thinking of putting some onto the site so check back often!

ACEOs

Morning!

I've only recently (in the last year I suppose) discovered the wonderful world of ACEOs (stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals) and it hadn't ever occured to me to make some of my own, but I think I will start doing some of my illustrations as ACEOs on the site.

It's so lovely to have a tiny piece of mini art (the standard size for ACEOs is 2.5"x3.5") and I've found plenty on Etsy that I may well get for myself, to oomph up my collection ;)

You can find mine here! Woop!

Bats and Babies Galore!

What with Halloween being just around the corner (!) I decided to paint a picture of a little bat girl, which is now here on the Etsy shop. Here's a wee picture of it for you guys to enjoy too:

I have also made some coloured versions of the it's a boy and it's a girl cards which can been found in the Etsy shop. I wasn't sure if I should go with the stereotypical colour schemes of pink and blue so I will making some more using different colours :) here they are for your delectation:

Print Partay and some NEW greetings cards!

We had another print partay tonight. I made chilli wraps and we all made lots of prints, including some with coloured ink *excitement*! My favourite of mine was the one below... I'm such a printmaker geek!

As well as printmaking I have been working on a few ideas for birthday/congratulations/good luck greetings cards. I just have the sketches so far, nothing coloured, but I'm working on it and will get them done ASAP!

Personalised baby birthday pictures

I am going to visit my friend and her 2 month old twin girls today. I'll take her some of my brownies and the picture that I've drawn as a gift for the girls for their birthday (only a little late..!)

When I was born my mum made me a sampler stitched with my names, my date of birth and the alphabet. When other children in the family were born shortly after me they were made birth date gifts by other members of the family. I always thought it was normal practice to be given gifts with names and DOB on, but the boy says he has never heard of doing that and certainly doesn't have one of his own. If it's just something that's not done much these days I think it's really sad so I decided to make one for the girls. I met them for the first time a few weeks ago and had to decide which animals I wanted to use. Imogen has a tendency to scrunch up her nose like a little rabbit and Tabitha is, apparently, already a bit of a cheeky monkey so I wonder if you can guess which animals I used?

Here's the final picture:

Mmm, chocolate brownies and octopuses!

Hoorah, it's finally autumn! Don't get me wrong, I love the summer but there's no season I like more than autumn.

My top 5 autumn things:

1. pretty leaves to kick around in the streets, much to the annoyance of the street sweepers (sorry)
2. a good reason to drink more tea, you know, for warmth
3. being able to wear pyjamas and not get too hot
4. my birthday
5. staying in at night drawing in the warmth while the wind is howling outside

To get into an autumnal feel I baked some brownies today. I couldn't find a recipe I liked so I fiddled around and made one up:

175g plain chocolate broken into squares
250g butter
250g golden caster sugar
3 eggs
100g mixed nuts
50g hazelnuts
175g self raising flour
3 tbsp cocoa powder
a touch of vanilla essence

1. Put the butter and chocolate in a pan and melt together over a low heat.
2. Beat the sugar and eggs together in a bowl then pour in the melted chocolate and combine.
3. Fold in the sieved flour and cocoa powder then add the nuts and the vanilla essence.
4. Bake for 35 minutes at about 180 degrees.

Woo, brownies for everyone! Nyom!

I also printed some octopus artist girl cards. I have a real octopus thing at the moment, which I'm sure will gradually pass but until then you will be bombarded with them. The cards are from an original illustration and are digitally coloured.

You can see the whole colour range here!

NEW octopus stickers - woo!

Hurrah, I love post! I got some lovely post today: matte vinyl octopus stickers I ordered last week! They are purple and great! You can buy them here.

I hope you like them! I am hoping to make some more animal stickers, maybe some squirrels and rabbits... oh, the possibilities!
