frock up for Frocktober

It wasn't until a couple of days into October that I read about the incredible event that is Frocktober.

Because I don't think I can explain it better than they can, here is the explanation from the website:

Frocktober began in October 2007 when some friends in Geelong decided it was time to do something fun and quirky to raise funds for women’s health. We each donned a dress, went out to the pub, passed around a hat and raised $200. Frocktober was born.

The Frocktober challenge is simple: to wear a dress to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer research.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have decided to frock up* for October to raise awareness for the cause, though with the amount of stuff I have done for charity this year I'm not sure anyone would sponsor me again - so instead I am telling people why I have frocked up, passing on the information from the website and asking them to make a direct donation if they would like to.
A lot of people have asked about it so far, as I don't tend to wear skirts very often, and I wear dresses even less often, so at least the info is getting out there. As it is, I always feel a bit awkward asking for money for sponsored stuff, so this time I'm just planting the seed and hoping to raise awareness.
*I don't have enough dresses to literally 'frock up' every day, so I'm including skirts as frocks :)
If you're interested in Frocktober but not sure what it's all about, here is the Mission Statement:
For the good of women’s health we’ll
Raise our voices, and some wealth.
October, 10th month of the year we’ll
Create awareness, knowledge share.
Kick up our heels, reject our jeans
Take Nan’s old dress, take to machines….
Our message is “We’re
Beautiful – no matter size or shape”.
Enjoy the month, frock up and please
Reach deep for FROCK-ing sake!!!
