I flipping love this cardigan (quelle surprise!) and although it's not a colour I would normally wear, I think the outfit is pretty cute with the black Peter Pan collar dress - and check out the adorable shoes!

Now I just need to find some perfect cats-eye glasses... will let you know how my search goes... anyone have any recommendations?

First it was giraffes, and now it's zebras. I'm not sure why I am so fascinated by safari animals at the moment, but I can't get enough of them!

I saw this incredible cardigan the other day, and simply had to have it - you can see why, right?

woodland friends on cardigans - squirrel edition

I know it wasn't a challenge, as such, but since the discovery of the amazing hedgehog jumper I thought I'd search for more woodland animals on knitwear. S is particularly partial to a squirrel, so that's where our adventure begins, my woodland friends.

I flippin' love squirrels, as you may remember from the acorn-based treasury I made earlier in the year, and I've been thinking about them pretty much all day (and I may have accidentally made another squirrely treasury earlier too).

I spent the entire morning wrapping presents (more on that later), and the afternoon making labels for the new drawers in my studio (more on that later too) before giving into my craving for Bombay potatoes, but all the times inbetween were spent thinking about squirrels, and in particular, squirrels on cardigans.

Here is what I have found:

But perhaps they're just not your thing. That's fine. I mean, you're wrong, but that's fine.

You know how some leather jackets are all embroidered and pretty on the back? Well how about instead of having girls or eagles or skulls on the back of your leather jacket, have a rapscallion of a squirrel!

Imagine the possibilities!

I have taken the liberty of "designing" one, just in case. The original jacket was pretty nice, I guess, but I think you'll agree I have made a significant improvement to the back of it:

utterly phenomenal knitwear

I was thinking earlier of a way I could add some snazz to the many dull outfits I have, and so of course my mind wandered onto the subject of cardigans, as it is prone to do occasionally.

The (supposed) rules are: if your outfit is a bit boring you can wear the most ridiculously fab cardigan over the top in order to add some interest and focus. But frankly I would wear these cardigans with anything and everything in my wardrobe.

Lounging at home on my day off, even if I know no one will see me apart from the postman?
Cardigan please.

While wearing an already pretty snazzy outfit?
Cardigan please.

Walking to the local shop on a Sunday morning to buy a pint of milk?
Cardigan over pyjamas please.

They are just too adorable not to wear all the time!

I've even given them a little 'cute' rosette because they win at being cute.

a history of cardigan love

It's no secret: I am somewhat of a cardigan enthusiast... what can I say, they are just so darn comfy and have the awesome power to cute-ify any outfit! This is no new phenomenon, I have been infatuated with the garment in question for as long as I can remember. Let's take a look:

Exhibit A - here I am as a toddler wearing an adorable bonnet and a pretty red cardi.

Exhibit B - here I am again, about 2 years old, having a great time on the swings, this time sporting a nice grey cardi.

Exhibit C shows my favourite cardi of them all - my mum knitted me this cardi when I was about 5-6 years old - it had little pockets at the front and the most awesome glittery buttons! I'm sure I cried when I grew out of this cardi, I wanted to wear it all.the.time.

I have spent 20+ years enchanted by cardigans, and I am still super in love with them! Look out for a post next week where I'll share with you my cardigan wishlist! Wooooo!
