Fine Art student vs. Graphic Design student
In my second year of uni I had a graphic designer boyfriend, and I can still remember the scowls and withering looks of my Fine Art peers, fully loaded with contempt and derision at being associated with 'one of them'.
I graduated a while ago now, and I've grown up a lot since then, but still the fact of my being a Fine Art graduate means this is not an easy thing to admit to.
Here goes:
I love typography.
I love fonts.
I love punctuation marks.
There, I said it. I'm a Fine Artist who also loves lettering - and I'm not ashamed!
Furthermore, I am in love with ampersands.
Just look how deliciously perfect they are, in all sorts of situations and media:
also:
Are you enjoying the ampersand trend?
Or do you prefer a different punctuation mark?
5 hellos:
I love that ampersand ring!
I also love that ampersand ring, and ampersands and typography in general.
It's great isn't it - I might add it to my birthday list :) ampersands are neat!
I <3 typography!
I did Graphic Design at school (would have continued it if my perfectionism didn't nearly kill me)and we did a big typography project. I love it when good typography says more than the words do (or says something different)but I don't like the & on keyboards (not swirly enough for me)
Nooooooooooooooo! A real life Graphic Designer! Did you have the same thing with the Fine Artists as we had at our art school??
