1st September.
The first day of my new business adventure.
The first day to start getting things done so I can be my own boss.
Today was supposed to be my first proper day of self-employment.
Instead, let's take a look what I did:
★ woke up awkwardly as Miss Meower lay across my bed, thereby pushing me out of it
★ played 12 rounds of online Scrabble
★ filled in a very important HMRC National Insurance form
★ booked a stall at a craft fair for the end of the month
★ made three new products for my Etsy shop, and started a mini price plan
★ finished a little commission piece
★ got my Google Reader down from 786 unread to 215 unread items
★ designed a mini embroidery as a gift for a friend
★ listened to 3 hours of Motown classics
★ visited an ice cream festival and ate more gelato than necessary (but it was so good!)
★ discussed pretty new rollerskates with Susie
★ tried to ignore a political protest which was loudly going on outside my building
★ attended a craft exhibition at The Haberdashery in Crouch End
★ drank a bowl of super thick white hot chocolate (I say drank, I had to use a spoon)
★ had rather a long discussion with Alison and Sian about the naming of tropical storms
★ admired Sarah's continental knitting style and made plans to visit Ikea next week
Not the most productive of days, but also not the most unproductive. I guess it was inevitable that it wouldn't be a day of getting all.the.things.done since I had put so much pressure on the fact that it was my "first real day of self-employment", so I am happy with what I did manage to achieve, and I'm going to have to stop having such ludicrous expectations of myself.
I just hope next week will be slightly better.
4 hellos:
Sounds like a good first day to me :) Tea and biscuits soon, please? I'd love to see Yoyo/have you meet our gang!
It was pretty good, but probably could have been a little bit more productive!
I think it was pretty good - exciting times. I think its about setting realistic goals and reviewing them at the end of each day (as sometimes goals that seem realistic in the morning turn out to be really hard or super easy)
I did manage a fair amount, and I wasn't really sure what kind of expectations to give myself, so I guess I must have exceeded them!?
