basking in the beauty of a geomagnetic storm

Despite having been to Norway, Finland and Iceland, I've never seen the Northern Lights. My Norway trip consisted of watching Eurovision, so there wasn't really a lot of touristy stuff going on, plus I was in the very south of the country. Finland was a mini holiday in the summer when the lights wouldn't have been very visible either, and when I was in Iceland the weather was too gloomy to see them, and the tour I had booked was cancelled. Sad face.

Of course I have seen hundreds of pictures of the Northern Lights, but I cannot wait to see them one day in real life - I mean, seeing a photo is pretty good but it must be nothing compared to seeing them for real.

Hotel Kakslauttanen is located way up in Finnish Lapland - they have a bunch of log cabins and an IGLOO VILLAGE. Yep, you read that right. Move along Swedish Ice Hotel, I'd rather have me a nice cosy igloo, thank you very much! No snow or ice rubbish for me though (what is this, the arctic?!) I'll take thermal glass!

Just imagine lying in the comfort of a lovely warm bed under some lovely warm thermal glass, looking up into the sky and seeing millions of stars and a swathe of colour dancing among them. Absolutely perfect.

If the timing worked we would go there for our honeymoon but the timing is off for the Northern Lights. It something we both really want to see. Thanks for sharing. I have to see them one day. I think that would be on my bucket list.

It's definitely on my list - and what better way to view it! Oh, and it's cheaper than the Treehouse Hotel!

That's such a dreamy idea. I'm swooning at the thought. Be sure to share photos when you one day make it there. :)

It's pretty much the perfect place - I can think of nothing dreamier or more romantic!
